NEW YORK — December 3, 2009. Over a thousand protesters filled Union Square the day after the New York State Senate voted down a bill that would have legalized Gay Marriage. Governor David Paterson, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and State Senator Tom Duane spoke as angry New Yorkers waved signs that read: “38 Bigots: Go F*ck Yourselves,” “Democrats Beware – Payback Is Coming,” “Who’s Gonna Do Your Hair Now?!” “Don’t Be Afraid To Hope New York,” “Homophobia Effing Sucks,” and, “Ignorance Is A Sin.”
